Urban Hen Program

To keep backyard hens, applicants must:

• Fill out the Program License Application
• Complete a Hen-Keeping Course with a Certificate of Completion.
• Register for a Premises Identification Number (PID) through the Government of Alberta. (This is a mandatory step for tracking and controlling animal disease.)
• Complete a Coop & Site Plan.
• Have Name, Phone number and Address of nearest veterinarian.
• Pay the lifetime license fee of $35.00.
